Music Box

Just a music box,
Just a broken watch,
Just a home that was filled with sunlight.
Just a photograph,
Just an easy laugh,
Just the knowing that we’d be all right.

What’s the point in remembering when all it brings is pain?
What is there but remembering? They can’t have lived in vain.

Just a sewing kit,
Just a father’s wit,
Just a time when we weren’t the parents.
Just a right from a wrong,
Just the will to go on,
Just a letter to my dearest Sarah.

Two arms just couldn’t hold enough, there’s so much we left behind.
There’s so much we have brought with us; we’re a family, still a family, brave and kind!

Just a Lullabye,
Just her mother’s eyes,
Just a portrait in a silver locket.
Just a wedding ring,
Just a song to sing,
Just an address in my jacket pocket.

Hearts can’t hold such a tragedy,
It’s more than I bear.
Hearts can hold an immensity!
They’ll always be right there.

We can find the strength,
We can take the strides,
We’ll keep going ‘til the morning sunlight
There’s nothing to fear,
With our family here,
There’s a future built on what’s left behind.

I’ll go on for them.
I’ll go on for them.
We’ll go on for them.
